First Aid Module

Aim: The aim of this module is to enable participants through theoretical and practical training to assess and manage life-threatening conditions and injuries in a remote wind turbine environment until professional medical assistance arrives.

Learning Objectives: After the training, the participant will be able to:

1. Demonstrate awareness of the importance of carrying out first aid on the wind installation.
2. Demonstrate awareness of the safe use of available first aid equipment.
3. Assess the casualty and recognise the signs and symptoms of life-threatening conditions.
4. Demonstrate the correct use of first aid equipment to prevent further injury.
5. Demonstrate the correct use of first aid equipment to provide life support.

Duration: 8 hours (including evaluation). Validity: 24 months.

First Aid module, part of the Basic Safety Training (BST) standard, equips wind industry workers with essential theoretical and practical skills to identify life-threatening conditions, administer safe and effective first aid in wind turbine environments, and prevent further injury until professional care arrives. It covers anatomy basics, wound/disease recognition, emergency response protocols, and hands-on techniques like CPR and AED use, tailored to offshore/onshore hazards. The module typically lasts 8 hours and is valid for 24 months.
