Aim: The aim of this module is to enable the participants, through theoretical and practical training, to use basic personal protective equipment, work safely at heights and perform comprehensive basic rescue from heights in a remote wind turbine environment.
Learning Objectives: After the training, the participant will be able to:
- Demonstrate awareness of the hazards and risks associated with working at heights.
- Demonstrate correct identification of PPE and the correct fitting and use of PPE.
- Demonstrate correct use of PPE and the ability to perform pre-use inspection of PPE.
- Demonstrate correct use of access equipment.
- Demonstrate awareness of the principles of safe work at heights.
- Demonstrate ability to perform basic rescue from heights.
Duration: 16 hours (including evaluation). Validity: 24 months.
Working at Heights module, part of the Basic Safety Training (BST) standard, trains wind industry workers to safely perform tasks at height in wind turbine environments. It covers hazard identification, proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) like harnesses and lanyards, safe work practices, and emergency procedures, including evacuation and rescue techniques. The module combines theoretical knowledge with practical exercises, emphasizing risk assessment and safe behavior. It typically lasts 16 hours and is valid for 24 months.
