Aim: The aim of this module is to enable participants to support and care for others working in the wind industry by possessing the knowledge, skills, and ability of enhanced first aid. Upon completion of the GWO Enhanced First Aid training, participants will be able to administer safe, effective, and immediate lifesaving and enhanced first aid measures to save lives and stabilize the casualty until professional medical care arrives in a wind turbine environment.
Learning Objectives: After the training, the participant will be able to:
- Demonstrate awareness of the importance of carrying out basic and enhanced first aid in a safe and sound manner, in accordance with legislative requirements and guidelines from the European Resuscitation Council and American Heart Association.
- Identify and assess the risks in the wind turbine environment and assess the casualty’s condition in accordance with the ABCDE method.
- Demonstrate the ability to provide immediate lifesaving first aid, including management of catastrophic external bleeding.
- Demonstrate the ability to provide enhanced first aid to stabilize the casualty’s condition.
- Demonstrate the ability to manage the casualty and liaise with emergency services/rescue teams to ensure effective handover.
- Demonstrate the ability to request telemedical consultation and medical/rescue assistance as appropriate.
Duration: 24 hours (including evaluation, typically delivered over 3 days). Validity: 24 months.
