Aim: The aim of this module is to enable participants, through theoretical and practical training, to prevent fires, make appropriate judgements when evaluating a fire, manage evacuation of personnel, and ensure all are safely accounted for in the event of an unmanageable fire in a wind turbine environment. If the incident is judged to be safe, the participants should be able to efficiently extinguish an initial fire by using basic firefighting media.
Learning Objectives: After the training, the participant will be able to:
- Demonstrate awareness of the hazards and risks associated with fire in a wind turbine environment.
- Demonstrate awareness of contingency plans in a wind turbine environment, including smoke detection and emergency escape procedures.
- Demonstrate correct actions on discovering a fire, including correct use of firefighting equipment.
- Demonstrate correct actions for fire prevention.
Duration: 4 hours (including evaluation). Validity: 24 months.
